Creative Links: Mental Health Creative Support Service

We are commissioned to deliver the Mental Health Creative Support Service (MHCSS) in Bath and North East Somerset, comprising of delivery of a number of creative activities and courses under the banner of “Creative Links”.

In its ten year history our Creative Links project has delivered progressive arts workshops for people with enduring mental health challenges in Bath and North East Somerset and is delivered in partnership with mental health service providers. The project utilises a range of art forms including rambling with digital photography, singing, dance and journalling. Included in this set of courses is our groundbreaking group My Time My Space run since 2005, for women with post-natal depression.

Since inception the Creative Links project has been funded and supported by a number of different trusts, organisations and public authorities, including the Arts Council England, Rethink, B&NES Social and Housing Services, Primary Care Trusts and the NHS.

“Creative Links is an invaluable service, it builds self-esteem and develops focus and motivation within service users lives. These groups have more effect than some anti depressants because over the weeks people build upon confidence and can see their achievements which enable them to see progression within themselves”

Heather Bonsey, Community Options Team, B&NES Council.

Some participant feedback we’ve had from these courses includes:

“Very nourishing and enriching”.
“We’re able to take risks that has helped others take risks and it feels ok to do this”.

“The sessions recognise and celebrate everyone’s individuality and also enable people to work together”.
